The Los Altos City Council recently voted to ban natural gas in new homes and businesses, effective in 2020. The city is among a growing list of Bay Area cities in favor of the ban, including Menlo Park, Palo Alto and Mountain View. However, many residents believe this is a power overreach and need more research before going into effect. Click on the link below for more details.
The Los Altos annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place 6pm-8pm on December 6 at the Veterans Community Plaza, located at the corner of Main and State streets in downtown Los Altos. There will be refreshments and holiday music, and, of course, a visit from Santa.

The annual Los Altos Festival of Lights Parade will take place in Downtown Los Altos at 6pm on December 1. This event celebrates the holidays with floats, marching bands and characters in costume and the theme this year is “A Child’s Holiday Fantasy”. the parade attracts a crowd of all ages to Main and State streets to partake in the long-standing city tradition.

The city of Mountain View will continue its tradition of hosting weekly outdoor family movie nights at rotating park locations around the city. The first movie is scheduled for July 12 , with a showing of "Incredibles 2" at Cuesta Park, followed by Smallfoot at Sylvan Park July 19. Shows begin at 8:30 or when darkness falls. Bring a blanket or low lawn chair to sit on.

Mountain View’s Thursday Night Live series will once again close down Castro Street 5:30-8:30 p.m. etween Mercy and Villa Streets starting July 11 and running through Aug. 15. The event will feature live music, an area for children to play, car show, and booths from local businesses and nonprofits.
